Mr Henry*: A story of resilience & hope

Found a New Job at Age 75—and a New Home! 🎉

We are overjoyed to share that Mr. Henry has recently moved into his new rental flat as of August 1, 2024! 🏡✨ At 75, Mr. Henry not only found a new place to call home but also secured a new job, proving that it’s never too late to make a fresh start.

Mr. Henry, a dedicated father of three, faced significant challenges after his divorce, including having to sell his house and struggling to find employment after facing challenges in renewing his driving license due to age. With his dwindling savings and scarce job opportunities, he reached out for help.

Referred to us by the Family Service Centre, Mr. Henry stayed with us for around four months.

“I am deeply grateful for the support I received at Bless Community Services. Ps Rick and case managers like Joseph were very kind and respectful. They never looked down on me, and their friendly approach made a big difference. I also had the chance to volunteer at the Family Day Out event, which made me feel valued and reminded me that I still have much to contribute. Not only that, BCS went above and beyond to help me find a job. I completed a security course, passing all three exams over three weeks. Now, I hold a license and have been offered a job! I also want to extend my thanks to my social worker who assisted in finding this rental flat. Age is not a barrier; it’s about attitude.
